Continuity Spotlight: Ahsoka (2016)

The young adult novel Ahsoka was published in 2016 to expand on how Ahsoka had survived in the early days of the Empire, bridging the gap between The Clone Wars and Ahsoka’s appearances in Rebels many years later as a Rebel operative. The book was written long before the idea to finish The Clone Wars ever came back up, meaning it has a number of differences with the version of the Siege of Mandalore that was ultimately shown in season seven. While later editions of the book were edited to correct Ahsoka’s saber color during the Siege from green to blue to align with the show, the book’s flashback depictions of that time differs from how season seven portrays it. Similarly, the 2022 Tales of the Jedi episode “Resolve” would later be adapted from the same outline Dave Filoni provided to publishing for the novel, with some notable differences. As we near the tenth anniversary of the novel’s release, I thought it would be interesting to revisit the novel with the decade of stories that have followed in mind…
