Beat the Devil (1953)
Everyone wants a fortune. Nobody can trust a soul.
Humphrey Bogart stars as Billy Dannreuther, a cash-strapped American caught up with four shady associates who dream of acquiring uranium-rich land in East Africa. Stranded in an Italian coastal town while awaiting their ship, Billy and his wife Maria encounter an English couple whose arrival sends an already questionable enterprise into a tangle of suspicion, flirtation and increasingly elaborate lies.
