Nudity in Pre-Code: “Ecstasy” and “Tarzan and His Mate.”
YouTube has approved my video on “Ecstasy” (1933) and “Tarzan and His Mate” (1934), which I’d hoped to be the first in the “Nudity in Pre-Code: The Naked Truth” series. The video has no nudity and is very (very) text-heavy. Both films had extensive censorship histories, but this 4-minute video only tries to—very briefly—address how the Production Code dealt with the nudity. I recognize that there will be disappointment in the video’s content and further accusations of “click bait”, which, by stressing that there is no nudity, I’m trying to head off at the pass.
I also want to point out that, in the video, I mistakingly wrote “MPAA” when it should be “MPPDA”. I hesitate to correct it in the video, as it would require the video to have to go through the YouTube approval process once again.
