A young farmer (Charles Farrell), dominated by his authoritarian father, must go to the city to sell wheat, but returns with a young wife (Mary Duncan).

Wanting to escape the city atmosphere, she quickly encounters the patriarch’s distrust of her, while discovering the fragility and weakness of her husband, whom she tries to bring out of his shell. She becomes the subject of a struggle between the two men, while having to fend off the advances of her father-in-law’s employees. All this takes place amidst wheat fields invaded by the wind and human passions.
