World Premiere Of 20th Century Studios’ ‘the Dog Stars’ At Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, London

The world premiere of “The Dog Stars” took place early friday evening at London’s Odeon Luxe Leicester Square Cinema. In attendance were Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, director/producer Ridley Scott, producers Michael Pruss, Cliff Roberts, executive producer Peter Heller, unit production manager Aidan Elliott, costume designer Janty Yates, and visual effects supervisor Charley Henley. A riveting, cinematic thriller set in a world where survival is instinct, but humanity is a choice, “The Dog Stars” opens exclusively in cinemas, IMAX, and premium larger formats 26th August.

The film tells the story of Hig (Jacob Elordi), a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, Bangley (Josh Brolin), has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. But when Hig receives a mysterious radio transmission, he ventures into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exist.

Based on Peter Heller’s captivating bestseller, “The Dog Stars” features a critically acclaimed ensemble, including Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney, Benedict Wong, and Guy Pearce. The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith, based upon the novel by Peter Heller, and the producers are Ridley Scott, p.g.a., Michael Pruss, p.g.a., Mark L. Smith, and Cliff Roberts, p.g.a., with Lily Brooks-Dalton, Brandon Scott Smith, Peter Heller, Aidan Elliott, Raymond Kirk, and Marco Valerio Pugini serving as executive producers.

Q: The location shots in the film look like places that really exist. What are the main elements that make a fantasy environment into one that the audience will believe exists?

Gavin Bocquet
– George Lucas has always been keen to use real locations wherever possible for his “other worlds,” whether it’s the deserts of Tunisia, the snow fields of Norway, or the palaces of Southern Italy. By shooting in these “real” environments, you get an integrity and realism to the design that make them believable to the audience, even though they may well recognize some of the places. You can then enhance these environments digitally, or add additional set pieces, dressing and vehicles to take the environments to another place.
