Following an airplane crash in a secluded, mountainous realm of the Himalayas, three British citizens—Major Crespin, his wife Lucilla, and their companion Dr. Traherne—find refuge in the palace of the suave, Oxford-educated Rajah of Rukh (George Arliss). While the Rajah welcomes them with polished hospitality, they soon realize they are prisoners.
