FDA Featured

This week’s UK–Ireland theatrical lineup arrives courtesy of the Film Distributors’ Association (FDA), representing the vast majority of cinema releases across the region.

Autumn is officially bringing the heat to local multiplexes and independent screens alike. If you are planning your cinematic excursions for the days ahead, this Friday’s roster packs a heavy punch with heavyweight auteur projects, glossy book adaptations, and compelling local documentary features.

Here is everything landing in UK and Irish cinemas on Friday, October 2, 2026:

Digger (Warner Bros.)

Easily the most anticipated tentpole of the week, Alejandro González Iñárritu returns with Digger. Led by Tom Cruise alongside an elite ensemble featuring Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, and Jesse Plemons, the film follows the world’s most powerful man on a desperate, frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before a catastrophic disaster he inadvertently unleashed wipes the slate clean. Expect massive IMAX crowds and heavy awards-season chatter.

Verity (Sony Pictures)

BookTok favorite Verity makes the jump to the silver screen under the direction of Michael Showalter. Starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, this psychological thriller adaptation dives deep into the twisted, suspenseful corridors of a struggling writer hired to complete the remaining books of a bestselling author incapacitated by an accident.

Derek Vs Derek (Dartmouth Films)

For those looking for something grounded closer to home, the indie documentary Derek Vs Derek hits selected screens this Friday. Set in the rolling hills of Devon, the film follows two neighboring farmers who share identical names but hold completely divergent philosophies on land use and rural conservation [49]. It is equal parts humorous and poignant, offering a timely look at the future of the British countryside [49].

Take It Or Leave It (BFI Distribution)

Curated for art-house devotees, the BFI brings Take It Or Leave It to select UK cinemas this week, offering a sharp, conversation-starting indie narrative experience for festival circuit film fans.
