Why Darth Plagueis Thought the Ancient Sith Were Failures
In Star Wars Legends, Darth Plagueis viewed the ancient Sith as immensely powerful but ultimately misguided failures whose empires, rituals, and obsession with dark side mysticism had never achieved true mastery over the Force. Rather than imitate their reliance on prophecy, sorcery, and ceremonial tradition, Plagueis approached the Force as a phenomenon that could be studied, tested, and controlled at the microscopic level. Through his experiments with midi-chlorians, life, death, and immortality, the Muun Dark Lord sought to transform Sith power from an ancient religion into an exact science believing that only by understanding the biological mechanisms connecting living beings to the Force could the Sith finally conquer death, dominate the Force itself, and surpass every Dark Lord who had come before him.
